A report from the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) last year states that more than 4 million people are alive today that might not have been, had it not been for the selfless actions of the crews of the RNLI.
The report was produced by Worshipful Company of Actuaries for the RNLI and takes into account the number of descendants that have been subsequently born following the saving of a life since the organisation was formed 200 years ago. In that time the RNLI’s lifeboat crews and lifeguards have saved more than 146,000 lives.
