Supporting Barmouth lifeboat station

Simon (MW0GSR) working DX on PMR-446
The Merion Amateur Radio Society (MARS) is chaired by Simon (MW0GSR) who runs Snowdonia Radio Company (SRC), a principle sponsor of SOS Radio Week 2010.
GB4BLB, organised by the Merion club, operated from both the Barmouth Lifeboat Station (Saturday) and Barmouth Yacht Club (Saturday and Sunday). On a gloriously sunny day the unique spectacle was snow on the beach – but this detract the Merion Amateur Radio operators from the task in hand – raising over £518 for the Barmouth lifeboat.
Visits from the SOS Radio Week founders

David (M3LFC) examines Barmouth lifeboat engine room
Derek (G7LFC) and David (M3LFC) visited the stations on the Saturday and enjoyed a splendid extended tour of the Mersey class lifeboat from one of the crew members. This was the highlight of David’s weekend, though he is no stanger to lifeboat tours having been the guest of honour at Lythm St. Annes in 2006.
Committed to SOS Radio Week 2011
The Merion Amateur Radio Society have already committed to take taking part in SOS Radio Week 2011 and Simon’s new van proudly displays the SOS Radio Week logo on its flanks and tailgate in recognition of their support.
