Visiting fund raising stations during 2010
Founders of the SOS Radio Week fundraising events, Derek (G7LFC) and David (M3LFC) are very busy during SOS Radio Week and none-more-so during the 2010 event. As well as running their own fundraising station the also visited the special event stations operated by the Merion Amateur Radio Society (GB4BLB) at Barmouth Lifeboat Station and Porthmadog and District Amateur Radio Society (GB1PLB) at the Porthmadog Yacht Club.
We had a great time
Derek said, after the weekend, that they’d both had a great time visiting the two stations and that he was so pleased that Amateur Radio operators and groups around the United Kingdon and Republic of Ireland had taken the Royal National Lifeboat Institution to their heart and were prepared to give up their time to raise money for this most worthy of charities.
Supporting Hoylake lifeboat station

David (M3LFC) presents cheque to Hoylake Lifeboat Station in 2008
In 2008 Derek and David donated the money they raised (£300) to the Hoylake lifeboat station during the station’s open day on August Bank Holiday. This is always a big event for the station with over 10,000 regularly attending each year.
During their visit to the station in 2008 brief discussions were held about possibly running a special event station from the Hoylake boat house in the future, but nothing was done about it in 2009. However contact has recently been made to try and finalise these plans for a special event station during the 2010 open day – again on August Bank Holiday Monday.
Derek and David will, once again, be donating the money they raised (£182.10) during this year’s event to the Hoylake lifeboat station.
