David Hughes (M3LFC) presented a cheque for £300 to Hoylake Lifeboat Station during their annual open day on the 25th August, 2008. The money was raised by David and his Dad, Derek (G7LFC), during SOS Radio Week 2008.

The Hoylake Lifeboat Station is undergoing a big transformation at the moment and in the prossess of raising £2m for a new boathouse which the money David and Derek raised will be put towards.

Within the next couple of years Hoylake Lifeboat Station will house the RNLI's first new breed of fast carriage launched lifeboat, the FCB2, replacing the current Mersey class lifeboat which has been on-station since 1990.
