Bredhurst Receiving And Transmitting Society during SOS Radio Week 2011

The Bredhurst Receiving And Transmitting Society operated over the weekend 22nd throughout the night till 1500 on Sunday 23rd. Operators were Owen G0NCE, Bob, G4IOG, Martin M0AAK, Charles G4VFZ, Bill G3NZR and Andrew, M6AAE.

Starting at 10 am we had a pile up on 20 meters with stations in VK, JA, ZS, XE, KA, KB, KC, KP, 7P8, 8P,and most of Europe. Changing bands to 40 meters again most of Europe but later in the evening, the states were non stop with the occasional carabean station, and  middle east station calling In. We finished off on 80 meters with similar results. We had worked 3 lifeboat stations to date.

Today, 26th, we have activated our callsign again, and have been operating on 20 meters from 1100, with same pile ups into Europe and Middle east.

A number of our club members attended the event, mainly for the food produced by our cook, Vic, G7VAC, and Owen G0NCE who supplied a magificent curry for the operators.

Our shack is a converted 40′ porta cabin, located in a green field behind the Bell Public house, and has a large array of antennas on a 90 foot portable trailer mounted tower.

A Cushcraft TH4, and various dipoles and loops with VHF beams adorn our mast! Radio equipment is the main rig IC7400, AMERITRON ALS 600 solid state amplifier.

Great weekend, dont know how much we have raised, as we are still collecting! Looking forward to the next one!
