Cromer Lifeboat Station on the air
GB4CLB will be on the air from 09.00 to 17.00, tomorrow (Friday), Saturday and Sunday.
Aerials are now up for all HF bands – 2m and 70cm to follow tomorrow, outside the RNLI boat shed at the end of the pier at Cromer in Norfolk.
We are hoping to work SSB and CW on HF (depends upon weather) and possibly other modes over the weekend. Similarly we will possibly work SSB on 2m (vertically polarised) and will have a go on 6m if we get our SRC stick in the air. The shed has a metal roof which could affect the direction of our signal (vertical is a couple of S points below our inverted V).
Also listen out for our deputy controller who will be working pedestrian mobile on HF outside the shed, a mike in one hand and a collecting bucket in the other. We also hope to have a station working on the viewing gallery in the shed at Cromer.
Today the weather was very cold with the wind directly on shore, and although we were on the air for 20 minutes on 80m we didn’t get any replies.
